Briony's invitation was left lying by the photo frames next to the computer.
A past thought invaded my loneliness. Shrieks echo in the chambers of late.
"GODDAMMIT, CHARLIE. I accept you as you who you are, and whenever you get morose I'm fine with that. But do not put your anger and judgment on people who take care of you! It hurts you know"
"I'm sorry. I may not have an ego, but the fact that my sense of humor is based upon ridicule, sometimes indiscriminate sedition, it's enough to suffice as an ego. I'm dreadfully sorry"
"God. Just..stop being annoying okay?", her cheeks flushed red.
I nodded. I didn't know what else to do. Her birthday was coming.
A tear rolled down the tracks that have been carved into my face after a thousand nights.
"I'm coming, Briony. I'll buy your daughter something special." I smiled. Contemplating the distant friend I hold dear. Her existence. My idiocy.
"It's late, love". Suddenly I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was Daniel. "Sweetheart, I fear for you".
